Local & Targeted Hiring

The Local & Targeted Hiring Action Team ensures that those seeking employment have the capability, but more importantly the opportunity to enter the healthcare industry – which often times does not even seem like a possibility.

This team aims to work with training providers and healthcare employers to focus recruitment efforts in areas with higher concentrations of unemployment and which so often include people at a disadvantage, whether that is due to individual circumstance, systemic issues or both. Through these efforts the team aims to knock down barriers and bridge connections that will lead to dream careers and, ultimately, a truly inclusive workforce.

Fair and just hiring policies for all across the healthcare workforce is critical. Working alongside one another to ensure prospective candidates receive the opportunities they have rightfully earned, regardless of their past or even their current challenges, is the sole goal of the Local & Targeted Hiring Action Team and will make a heavy positive impact that is sure to echo through generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Chicagoland Healthcare Collaborative different from other healthcare groups?

The Collaborative follows the industry workforce partnership model. As training providers, educators, and employers meet and discuss issues influencing the industry, The Collaborative drives the conversation around equity and employment which is in interest to all.

Unlike job developers, The Collaborative does not have the transactional pressure of forced speaking engagements or job opening requirements. The purpose is to have a no-pressure inclusive environment where individuals from recognized healthcare organizations can join an action team to take charge against systemic issues together across the healthcare ecosystem.

What are you trying to do with these action teams?

We aim to unite employers and industry partners to support an inclusive healthcare workforce, provide accessibility for unemployed and underemployed populations, and develop innovative responses to the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.

Why did you focus on these three?

We facilitated a process that brought together an array of stakeholders, particularly focused on healthcare employers and their Human Resource departments. Through this process, over 30 workforce trends and topics were selected, each of which was further studied, classified, and categorized which allowed us to develop the three main focus areas we have today.

It’s important to note that everything we have is meant to build on itself. As trends change and goals shift, we have the malleability to become even more visionary in order to best serve the Chicagoland healthcare workforce.

Why join this specific action team? Can I join more than one?

We invite you to join the action team that most closely aligns with your goals and passion! You may join more than one.
